117: Working Against the Grain
2/15/2023
So far so good. Finished Chapter 50: The Harvest Song today. Still on track. I’m a little worried about all the exposition I put into this one, and so little actually happening. But at 7 pages and 2,182 words, at least it’s not very long.
I liked the part where Wanyana works on Bulala’s song the best and having her relieve herself was an unusual choice. Lots of atypical choices went into this chapter, leaving me uncertain whether it will hold up when I come back to reread it later. But I think it’s good to go against my own grain sometimes, and work outside the box I’ve made for myself.
Present-Day Reflection
9/19/2026
Feels like I’m constantly working outside the box I’ve made for myself these days. My boundaries are very permeable. Going against my own grain. An atypical lifestyle – not just within the bounds of my Batu work. Constantly learning new things, and as a result, feeling like a neophyte who doesn’t know what he’s doing. It’s frustrating, and wears me down at times, but I keep picking myself back up and pushing forward.
12 more days until my book’s launch date, when Wings of Providence will finally take flight. Ready or not.
