144: Final Tally

3/21/2025

Just checking in with a final tally on the metrics of where my Batu work stands as of now. Book One: Wings of Providence comes in at 590 pages, 82 chapters (counting fables and the 4 Yara segments), and 179,058 words.

Book Two: Tears of Stone is not done yet, but when including what is done with that, the grand total for everything is 970 pages, 141 chapters, and 298,398 words.

Present-Day Reflection

10/16/2026

This is where my work stood upon completion of what I was calling the initial drafts for Wings of Providence. I would leave it alone then for several months during my transition back from eastern Washington to Seattle. It wouldn’t be until I settled into my new job and my home in Pioneer Square that I’d finally go back over the entire manuscript from beginning to end.

As of today Book One: Wings of Providence comes in at 588 pages, 71 chapters (plus The Yara prelude and 8 fables), and 175,943 words.

My archived author’s journal has only one more entry after this, the journey from my first book’s genesis to its final edits now coming to a close. The Batu Saga as a whole, however, has only just begun.
