61: Shelving Tapu

I started The Song of Mugasha fable, as the first part of The Napatawalata. I’ve been struggling for a couple days on how to reconcile the prophecy of Mugasha with a Tapu story, but without success. So, I decided to just start the Tapu story with his birth, letting it parallel Diallo’s, and hope that an opportunity will present itself to tie it in with the prophecy. Because without doing that the title won’t make sense and it won’t fit as a companion to the first book in my series. I have the vague notion that Tapu will be on a quest in search of Mugasha, but I haven’t got any particulars figured out yet.
Present-Day Reflection

Thirteen years later and I’m still only 9 pages into writing The Song of Mugasha. It just hasn’t been a priority. And I don’t see that changing until after I get Wings of Providence launched and I achieve enough success with that to retire from my day job. I just don’t have the time and energy right now to focus on the creative writing aspects of my main narrative, or any of its related projects like The Napatawalata.
Time is the ultimate governor. Time and energy, but mostly time. Right now, all my free time is going toward building and launching this website. After that it will be spent marketing and editing the narrative for the second book, not on furthering the creation of any new work. That is going to wait until I’m retired, when writing has become my sole occupation.
The original plan was for that to happen by the end of this year. I knew even as I formulated that plan that I was being overly optimistic, but erring on the side of optimism has always been an intentional tactic.
