62: Slowing, but Not Stopping

I just finished yet another revised Kanar table, totally based on Swahili now, as well as a lengthy addition of words to flesh out my Kanar Lexicon. I’m starting to formulate the fundamentals of Kanar grammar, but I’m keeping it very simple. Tomorrow I’ll start rewriting the Kanar breakdowns, my goal being to have them completely finished by the end of July, and well into Chapter Eight: Dissolutions as well.
As for The Napatawalata, I got the basic story outline for The Song of Mugasha done, and the first 3 ½ pages written, as well as the sketch for the poster that will go with it. So, I have a good feel for what The Song of Mugasha fable will be like and its imagery. I’m pretty excited about it and will continue working on it as I need breaks from working on the breakdowns and Chapter Eight.
It’s hard to believe that this is all I’ve got done for the whole month of June, especially since there wasn’t one day I didn’t work on something Batu related, and Many days were all-day workdays trying to get stuff done.
Nonetheless, I’m content with how Kanar is shaping up and The Song of Mugasha fable. The poster sketch for that looks good, too, and if done well, may even turn out better than my Song of Alodia poster. We’ll see.
Present-Day Reflection

Most of the time I push to get things done, but sometimes – like the last couple weeks for me recently – I just let it go and take my time. I get tired of pushing and just take it easy for a bit, only doing what feels right in the moment. Which isn’t much.
As with this entry from June 30th 13 years ago, I still do something Batu related every day, but not central to my mission.
This is my version of taking a break. Not moving the needle much but still doing something. It’s my way of managing burn-out. Slow down to a crawl for a minute before picking myself back up to start running again.
It’s important not to judge myself and to allow this from time to time, trusting that I’ll get back into the game when I’m ready.
